Retrouvaille Supports Bishops’ Marriage Initiative

Oakland, CA – November 29, 2004 – On November 17th the US Catholic Bishops announced a plan to promote marriage.
Retrouvaille International (pronounced retro-vi with a long i) stands ready and able to support troubled marriages in the United States and in many countries around the world.

One of the most pervasive threats to the institution of marriage is the number of couples deciding they cannot reconcile their differences and decide to divorce. Approximately 1 million couples divorce in the United States each year. Sadly, the children of divorce many be the biggest losers.
Retrouvaille is a ministry helping married couples reconcile their differences and learn to love again. The program is Catholic in origin but serves couples of all faiths and those with no faith tradition. Retrouvaille has helped tens of thousands of couples experiencing marital difficulty at all levels of disillusionment and misery.

“We are grateful to see the Catholic Bishops take this important step in helping marriages. I have witnessed many miracles on Retrouvaille Weekends and believe that all marriages could benefit from the experience.” Fr. Jeffrey Keyes, C.PP.S. Member of the Retrouvaille International ecclesiastical coordinating team.

Some couples feel frustrated and find that talking about it only makes things worse. So they simply shut down. Other couples have severe conflict and bitter arguments. Most don’t know how to change the situation or even discuss it with their spouse. The Retrouvaille program is designed to provide the tools to help marriages get back on track.
